[identity profile] toxicthoughts.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
We are having a really hard time naming our baby boy. There is nothing we agree on and could use suggestions on names (typically not in baby books since we have gone through all of those). Our first son's name is Cannon James, so we are looking for something a little unusual or uncommon. It also needs to be a non-unisex name. Any ideas?

We had Grayson picked out, but I am hearing it on more girls than boys.

I LOVE Grayson for a boy. Our daughter wanted to name her second son Grayson but hubby wouldn't go for it...so he is a Cameron...I like both Cameron and Grayson but the latter is still my favourite! :-)

-son names on girls really annoy me. Don't people realise what is means?
Even though most -son names are really more surnames than first names to me, at least on boys they make sense!

I like Grayson a lot. I've actually never heard it on a girl; it sounds much more boyish to me.

I haven't heard Grayson on a girl either. I love it! It goes well with Cannon without being cutesy. Just a few suggestions:

Theron- Greek "a hunter"
Songan- (SOHN-gahn) Native American "strong"
Ruston-Old English "from the red-haired one's estate" meaning is kinda blah, but you could get Rusty as a nn.
Dalton-Old English "from the hamlet"
Bronson-Old English "son of the brown one"

Might as well just name him Trebuchet or something. Keep with the weapons theme, you know. How about Gunson, best of both worlds?

My friends are naming their son Grayson. I think it's a great name! I've never heard it for a girl.

grayson isn't a girl's name. it ends with SON, lol.

you've got to be pretty ignorant to name your daughter a name that's so blatantly masculine, don't you think?

I really hate the name Grayson, on a boy OR a girl.

I kept seeing Bronson while going through the comments, and I like that. Also, what about...

Walker
Brennan
Orion
Leo

I also saw Jett while going through the comments and while I'm not normally a huge fan of that name, I think it sounds okay with Cannon and if paired with a common middle name (like you did with Cannon), I think it'd be okay. And it's WAY better than Grayson.

I think Quinn is going to morph into a girls name in a few years. I do love the name. I would only use it as a middle name for a boy now.

I think Addison is getting to be quite a popular name for girls now. Also Madison....it happens, son or no son.

I like Hudson. For a boy.

To go along with Cannon

I know a boy named Gatlin (like the cannons of the civil war)

Gatlin Charles?
Gatlin Andrew
etc.

It goes well with Cannon. I also like Gabriel and Thorne, like others suggested. :)

i know more girls than boys named grayson, as well (with varying spellings). i think people like it because they can call her grace or gracie for short. i sympathize with you.

what about: felix, arthur, arlo, cyrus, bruno, leo, phoenix, victor, reign, darwin, august, yorick, jasper, milo, rex?

i like most of the other suggestions, too.
