My fiance and I went to a family reunion type party today for his side of the family, and we met some of his second cousins we haven't met before. The one that stuck out the most was a little girl named Wellsley. At least, that's how I'm assuming it's spelled. I think it could ALMOST work on a boy, but not as much on a girl [although she was incredibly adorable!]. What do you think? Boy, girl, or awful?

Awful. It's a name for a college, not a girl.

Well, it's a woman's college, so I could see it more as a girl's name. If for a boy, I'd think they were being KRE8IV with Wesley.

It's probably spelt Wellesley.

I don't mind it. It might be a family name for them. I would never use it but I don't mind it at all.

Agreed. Women's college, not name.

I would not name my child Yale for the same reason. It's weird, and kind of creepy.

I'm going to have to agree that.

It doesn't look or sound like a boy's name so if I have to choose it would be a girl's name. I don't hate it but I'd never ever use it.

Agreed. Sounds like they are trying to sound pretentious and snobby. They missed.

well it's not my style but I don't think it's a bad name.
It has the same air as Lesley and Kelsey.

What goes through people's minds when they're naming their kids?
