What do you think of this name for a boy? Any other spelling suggestions/versions?

For a child in any other country other than the one in which it originiates as a male name, no, I really do not like it.

I knew quite a few boys in high school named Ilya (by "quite a few" I mean "three"). It's a really good Russian name. It's an easy name to say even just the first time but that spelling takes people back for a second. It wouldn't spell it any other way, because all the other ways make it look like a girl's name.

Elia
Elya
Illia
Ilia

Unless you wanted to spell it phonetically?

I taught swimming lessons to a little boy named Ilias. I loved that name. The family was Ukranian.

I'm not really partial to it, but if you like it, then go for it. :D
