I just found and joined this community. My wife and I are trying to have our first child.

We already have the names chosen (ok, we actually had the names chosen before we were married :) )

Anyway,

if our first child is a girl: Inari Elizabeth Mary-Catherine LeBlanc

if our first child is a boy: Keegan George Reilly LeBlanc

Other possibilities for second and beyond children of the same sex as the first include:

Girls:
Caitlin Jocelyn Aurora LeBlanc
Jena Rhiannon Amelia LeBlanc

Boys:
Elijah Daniel Liam LeBlanc

Just wondering what y'all think? Also, if it matters, my wife and I were born and raised in New England, she is mostly Irish/Welch and I am predominately French-Canadian with a bunch of other stuff thrown in.

If the names are already set in stone, do you want candid opinions from people on the yea and the nay sides both, or would you prefer that we respond only if we like the combos?

I like all of the names individually (except Mary-Catherine) but I don't like that there are so many of them. It's such a mouthful to have four names. But I do like the names.

Mary-Catherine is my Best friend's name, and she would've been our first child's Godmother if she was still alive.

As for all the names, We kind of want to do something different from the rest of our families when it comes to naming, and one of my other best friend's husband has two middle names, which is where we got the idea from.

They are set in stone, but feel free to respond if you like them or not, individually or in the combo's listed.

Also, just so everyone knows, each of the names has some sort of meaning (see Mary-Catherine explanation below).

Oh well if it's a family name that makes all the difference. Seriously. My partner and I already know that when we're married and start a family, if we have a boy his middle name will be Jerome. I don't particularly care for the name itself, but it's named after a remarkable man, my partner's grandfather who was more of a father figure to him than his own dad ever was, and died when my partner was 7. So yeah...significance of a name makes a huge difference.

Okay, just checking; didn't want to make you feel bad!

To my ear, this is so long that it almost feels more like a class roster than a single child. The end of Inari features the same sound as the start of Elizabeth (this may not be true if you say "ah" lizabeth instead of "ee" lizabeth of course) so they run together a bit. Because of this, because of the length, and because you've noted that Mary-Catherine was someone special, I would probably use Inari Mary-Catherine LeBlanc, and save Elizabeth for the next baby.

Although the -ly and Le- are a bit echoey (Lee Lee), I do think the order in which you have the names has a better flow than if you reversed George and Reilly. So I'd probably leave this one just as it is.

Just a heads-up: Caitlin is hugely popular. If you look at the Social Security name list of the most popular names of the 2000s (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/decades/names2000s.html) to see where it ranks, you may not see this immediately because the Social Security site counts different spellings separately. I did a quick tally and came up with this:

39,280 - kaitlyn
26,104 - katelyn
14,609 - caitlin
11,698 - caitlyn
7,674 - kaitlin
6,449 - katelynn
3,673 - kaitlynn
1,647 - katelin

This totals 111,134, which would make the name with that sound the second most popular name for girls in the 2000s.

Since Caitlin and Jocelyn rhyme, if you do want to retain Caitlin and leave this combo as long as it is, you may want to try Elizabeth here instead.

Thia also repeats the Li-/Le- sounds.

Mainly I'm finding these all feel a little wordy to me. DH has two middle names (both from family and both nearly unpronounceable to English-speakers), and he finds it cumbersome to the point where he would have dropped the second middle name altogether if his remaining initials didn't spell out something unpleasant!

* Elizabeth is my wife's middle name, and her Great-Grandmother's name
* Daniel was one of my best friend's name
* Elijah is a name I've always liked, and is also the male form of Alijah, which is one of my wife's cousins
* Inari is named after a friend of mine from Canada
* Reilly is my Mother-in-law's family name, which my wife likes as a name
