What do you guys think of the name Oakley? When you first see it do you think of a boy or a girl?  Any possible mn?

I have always loved this name for a boy, but someone squashed my dreams one day and told me it wasn't a name!

To me, Oakley = stuck-up, rich boy. Eh.

If Apple can be a name, Oakley can be a name.

The sunglasses connotation was the reason I was told it wasn't a name.

I really love that name for a girl. I don't mind it for a boy but I think it sounds more feminine than masculine.

I've thought of it as a name before, to me it sounds somewhat masculine, but then too feminine to be masculine. I consider it unisex, also because it reminds me of a surname. Babynames.com considers it like that.

I can't come up with mn's but I always associate it with the word "oatmeal" XD so it makes me think of honey and wooden houses

I immediately thought of those stupid sunglasses.

Boy.

You mean nickname? Lee, I guess.

Wait, what's an mn? I thought it was maybe a typo.

I used to know a guy called Ashley Oakley, so thats what I think of.
& the sunglasses.

I don't particularly like it, but I think it'd be a boys name

ohhh sorry I actually meant I couldn't come up with nicknames, don't why I read (and then wrote!) middle names!

For a girl:
Oakley Erin
Oakley Laurel
Oakley Lyrian
Oakley Paige
Oakley Amber

For a boy:
Oakley Ryan
Oakley Thomas
Oakley Peyton
Oakley Jeremy
Oakley Preston

It makes me think of the 50 pairs of sunglasses in my friend's closet. And her entire wardrobe from Oakley. She's a little obsessed...

Use it on either boy/girl.

I agree with your first sentence. I wouldn't think of it as a person's name.

I think Annie Oakley, so girl. And many -ley names are more commonly used on girls. You should get all super-kr8tyve and use Oakleigh. hehe

It is pretty though.
