What do you think of the name Cassia (pn: Ka-sha)

I came across it a few days ago and added it to my list.

At first I thought it was pronounced Cas-see-ah) but after further investigation (and then help of miss_tee and museofmyself...thanks) it was determind to be typically prounounced as Ka-sha)

what do you think?

Meh. "Cash" is kind of a weird sound for a name. Especially, IMO, a girl's name. I also thought of Kashi.

Cassia in Italy would be pronounced Cas-see-ah, and the Via Cassia is one important road that the Romans built, connecting Florence to Rome.

If it weren't that in the modern italian language "cassa" means "cash" (as in machine), I'd say I like how it sounds.

I've always known that Kasia is read "ka-sha", and is a derived form of Katherine in the Eastern European languages

I know I was the bubble burster but...

I actually wish it was pronounced Cass-ee-uh cos KA-sha reminds me of the cereal.

I actually like it, but you should know why. In the west Cassia is a very common type of tree and so a lot of parks, streets, schools etc. are named Cassia, pronounced just like you said. There is Cassia park just a few blocks from my house! ;)

I had a friend in gradeschool who's name was Kazia. Her full name was Katarzyna which means Catherine in Polish. However, it was pronounced more "kah-jah."

I really think I love this name because of the way it looks when I say the name out loud or in my head. I experience synaesthesia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synaesthesia so that probably has a lot to do with why I love certain names.

Not to get all weird on you all, but when I see the name Cassia it makes me think of white flowers and green clovers. Despite the "Cash" sound, I don't think of money at all.

I hope this made sense and I didn't come off sounding *too* weird. ;)

Ooh I really like Cassia pronounced Kah-sha! I don't particularly like it pron. ca-see-uh, which is how a girl I know who spells it that way pronounces it.

I like it better said Cass-ee-ah. I know a Katherine who, in Polish, is called Kasia.

It reminds me of my name, Kasia, which is pronounced Ka-sha, so it just looks like an awful misspelling to me. I can't tell you how many times people have mispronounced my name as Ca-see-uh and hearing that as an actual name sort of bugs me.

I like it said as Cas-see-ah. But said correctly I don't care for it, but that's probably because it makes me think of the health food cereal.

Me too...actually quite a few, as I live in a Polish community, and it's really common among Polish people.

I've never heard of Cassia, though.
