[identity profile] zante.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My name is Sarah Amy (Sera to be different)Wild.

My fiance calls me Eliza, and so I've mushed it together to make Sereliza (or some sort of spelling) and I joke around that its my name.

I'm getting married in 2 and a bit years, and I'm changing my name to Evans and debating whether to change my first name too.

I love Amy, I think its beautiful.

I'm confused! What do you think? If I should even change it!

I really don't mind Sereliza Evans (do you prn it Ser-el-eye-za, or Ser-el-ee-za?)
it's just that Sera for Sarah is just so wrong! they only sound the same in certain states, but they're not really supposed to in the English language. It's worse than kr8yv spelling, to me.

I'm not sure I would do an actual name change. Nick names can be godo enough, really.

My reasoning is that I know a lot of parents think for a long time what they want to name their baby. And usually* I don't feel like its quite respectful of ones parents to just go and change it up. :/ Seems kinda like saying "You didn't do a good enough job naming me, and nwo *I* have to fix your mistake!!". Granted, if you don't get along with your parents/they don't mind at all, go right on ahead. But I know I would be CRUSHED if any of my kids wanted to change their names like that.

*usually, because I SO see an inflation of name changed in the next couple decades when the billions of jayden/jaylen/kaylen/aiden/brayden/madidyn/random letters thrown together to "make" a name's change their names.
