How do you spell this name?
I spell it Claire. And because it happens to be my name, I feel like Clair/Clare look somewhat empty.
But the other day I served a girl at work, and she had a name badge on because she worked at the pizza place down the street. She looked at MY name badge and said "Oh, we have the same name!".
I looked at hers, and it was spelt Klayre.
Huuuuhh!?!?
Maybe it's because i'm partial to my own name...but wow.

Wow. I understand where she's coming from since the pronunciations are the same (I'm guessing), but Klayre is ridiculous. I ultimately prefer Claire.

Isn't your spelling, or the Clair spelling, an actual french word? Either way it's a lot prettier than Klayre. Ugh.

Not the same name. :(

Maybe I'm just prejudiced. Yuck.

I actually don't really like Claire are all, but prefer your spelling.

I do like Clara.

Poor Klayre - some parents just shouldn't be allowed to name their children.

I definitely prefer Claire, though I like Clare as it sounds more Irish than French. I'd associate it with a surname, though - like Angel Clare. I also know a Clair and it's like her parents forgot to finish writing her name.

Ok, I've now done that thing where I look at a word/name for too long and it no longer seems real!

I think I prefer Clare over Claire, only because of the store in my mall, Claire's, which is a (sort of) tacky store and of a book I read where the character's name was Clare, and I loved the book.

Clair's kind of off for me, and Klayre... I can't even begin to talk about that.

I like Claire and Clare. I'm not a fan of Clair, though.

I love the name, too. I also really like Clara.

And, uh... Klayre is AWFUL.

Clair/claire are an adjective in french to say clear, bright, respectively in the masculine and feminine form.
Clair is also a noun.

i've always liked Clara, after the girl in the nutcracker, but in terms of the name claire, there's only one way to spell that and you nailed it.

I like Claire, and I've seen Clare as well (I believe predominantly an Irish thing, as in County Clare). Klayre is just ... no.

It's one of my middle names, spelled Clare. However, I have that spelling cos it is after my great grandfather Clarence.

I like Claire and I don't mind Clare. Clair seems unfinished to me. And Klayre... I know that it's pronounced the same. But I really wouldn't consider it the same name at all. Her parents must have been on something when naming her.

Klayre? Wow. I'd spell it Claire to. Klayre looks like it's a completely different name. And like it's supposed to be pronounced Klay-r.

I still get a little ticked when people spell mine Clair. Not only because, well, that's not how my name is spelled, but because it tends to be how it's spelled when used by a male. Clare isn't too bad, but I still prefer Claire.

I like Claire better than Clare, honestly. My best friend's baby sister is named Clare and she's an absolute doll. Her name suits her.

My friends middle name is Klera. (clara) Her mother was foreign and that's how you spelled it where she was from. Maybe it's foreign?

I'm partial to Clair

Haha wow.. as you probably know by now, my name is also Claire... and I once spelled it as klaeyre as a joke, when I was just mucking around with one of those "spell names in the most outrageous ways possible" sort of phases. I can't believe how close that spelling is to my ridiculous invented one!

(PS - I prefer our spelling too :p)

Far as I can tell Claire is the most common spelling, so I default to that. :)
That said my own middle name is Clair, and I like that because pretty much nobody else does. There's a story behind my father choosing that over Claire or Clare, which I appreciate.

Yeah I'm not crazy about Klayre either.
