When I was a high school, I had a friend from the Phillipines. His full name was Leonard Jr. but everyone at school called him Leo. It fascinated me when he told me his family's names:

Father: Leonard
Him: Leonard Jr. (len-id, nickname: Leo)
Brother: Leomar (leo-mar, nickname: Leo)
Brother: Leonar (leo-nar, nickname: Leo)

At school, all the boys were called Leo *last name* but at home they all had individual nicknames. Maybe it was a cultural thing?

What do you think? Similar experiences?

I went to school with three of four sibling who went by their last name. Some people didn't even know their first names and would call their house ask as for *Last name* and not know which one. I think the fourth sibling also went by the last name but I've never met him.

I know a girl whose name is Shen, and her brother's name is also Shen. The only difference is that they have a different second syllable after a hyphen following "Shen."

It reminds me of George Forman naming all his kids George, and Michael Jackson with his several Prince Michaels.
