Several years ago I was a member of a website where I became friends with a young woman named Shoshana. I had never known anyone with that name before but I came to really like it. I think it's a gorgeous, unique name. :)

I have a friend with that name, but her name is spelt Shashanah. We call her Shash for short.

It's the hebrew name for Susan.
But I really don't like it in English, because of all the Sho-shash-ness.

Shoshana is a pretty name. However I can think of a much better alternative of just Shanna. Now, I may be be biased because my name is Shanna but I absolutely love it. In my 21 years of life, I have never disliked my name. I pronounced it as Shan-nah ..like with a hard sounding a in the beginning. However, it is commonly mispronounced for a softer sounding a...making it sound more like Shawn (but not quite...im just not sure how to describe it). At least that is the mistake made here in New York lol.

So yeah...Shoshana is pretty but Shanna is better ! hehe

I generally don't like sh sounds in names, but the Greek form Susanna is one of my top 5 names. :)
