i've decided that if i have a daughter, she will be named andromeda jocelyn. i think it's gorgeous, and it gives a lot of nickname possibilities, andi being my favourite. i've always loved the name andromeda, i have a good friend named andy, and the name jocelyn comes from another dear friend of mine. what do you guys think?  (my mom thinks i'm crazy :] )

I think Andi is a great nickname.

Andromeda is not my style but I can see how its pretty. Jocelyn is a nice middle name

In the book by Jodi Picault about the sister who was conceived to be a marrow donor for her sister with cancer, the girl's name is Andromeda. If I am remembering right, they call her Ana though.
I read that book like six months ago, so I don't know why the name escapes me right now.

OKay, I mentioned Andromeda to a friend of mine and she said my kid would be traumatised for life.. I think it's lovely.
I don;t like Andi at all, but I do like Ana or even Romy

I love that book. so so sad.
I've read all of her stuff, infact i'm reading her latest one now. They're all very simlar.. and I think My Sister's Keeper is possibly my favourite.

Rowling uses a lot of astronomy-related names, so that makes sense. :)

your mom's right. too many jokes about her straining (andromeda strain?). plus it sounds too much like androgynous.

I LOVE Andromeda. I really wanted to use that as a name. My husband and I had it on top of our list but then when we shared with his stepmom she made a face that I didn't want her to have reason to make again. It's definitely got middle name potential. Still, I do love that name and would probably still be thinking about using it if we hadn't shared it.

Off topic, but I love The Pact! :) My Sister's KEeper is my next fave. Her books always keep me hooked until the very end, and then I feel squeamish. But then I go back for MORE! I'm a pretty black and white person, so her books freak me out because she works so hard to blur the line between right and wrong. She justifies a lot of affairs, and murders, etc...but it's so good! LOL. I love fiction. BUt after I read her books I always have to go read the Gospel of Luke or some children's book to clear my mind of all the drama. LOL

Gaah. Sharing is the worst! They wouldn't make a face if you walked in with your FRIEND Andromeda, right?

no but they might if you walked into the room with a friend who was thinking of changing her name to Andromeda. it's all about responsibility/blame.

Oh I love The Pact too! I'm a little bit in love with Chris..
I've never met a single person who doesn't rave about jodi Picoult books. The only bad thing I have to say about them, is that they are all so similar... well, that's not so bad- you know you're going to get a good read!
She does the most amazing job of getting so inside her characters heads you can't help but think them real.
Just finished 'Nineteen Minutes' this morning. It's good, but the ending is a little quick.
