Personally, I love it and would in a heartbeat give it to my someday daughter regardless.

I love Jane, Mary not so much. I would never use the name due to it being slang for marijuana....and I work in a drug treatment facility. I did have a client once who wrote a poem to his lover - Mary Jane. It was actually a great poem...even if it was about drug addiction.

I think of the shoes and the drug and Spiderman.
Despite all that, it's still a pretty name, but I think it's only suitable for a little girl. Once she turns eleven, it kind of loses its charm.

I know someone whose name is that, however, Jane is her last name and it's spelled differently. People still take that meaning from it, though.

I wouldn't use it, because some people DO immediately think "marijuana". I think it is a pretty name, but unfortunately, it does have that connotation.

Teased? I don't know. It's not the worst name ever. It's very catholic sounding. But it has a certain kitchy charm too.

I'd rather meet a little Mary Jane than a little Madison or Grace.

ehh marajuana is the first thing that comes to mind.
i had a teacher named mary jane, it suited her well.
she did get a lot of jokes about pot in relation to her name though.

I like that name (just like I like most Mary name combos), but I think I'd hestiate to use it because of the drug refrence. It's sad that such a nice name has been tainted.

I do know that anyone in any of the places I have lived would jump on that poor girl in a heartbeat. She'd never get introduced to anyone in East Texas or Georgia without AT VERY MINIMUM getting smirked at. All of my friends would razz the hell out of her, but good-naturedly.

If you did name your daughter that it shouldn't be much of a big deal, it'd probably give her kudos with the wrong crowd for being named after a drug though, and they would think you were the coolest mom ever.
