First Post, Few Names

Hi, I just wanted to share some names I had in mind for when I have kids.  I am not planning on having any in the near future so my list is not very long, yet.  Also, I have been inspired to look for some today while reading what other people have recently posted.

My favorites so far:

~Trinity, maybe Tryn or Trini or even Tyrin (any one seen or heard this last one?); means "threefold" in Latin/English

~Carin, maybe Caryn or Charin for an Irish twist; means "Pure" in Latin

~Reilly, confusing enough when spelled that way =); means "courageous" in Gaelic

~Anamchara - /an-um-carr-ah/, found while browsing the irish language; means "spiritual advisor" in Irish Gaelic

~Chara - /carr-ah/ since it is half of the above word, to be like Cara or Kara; means "friend" in Irish Gaelic
            
Okay, now the boys...

~Cael, if you haven't noticed I am into Irish names; might mean "skinny" in Gaelic
           
~Baux, this is my little variation of Beau and I decided to give the "X" it's sound so it is pronounced "box", poor kids.

~Soren, just found it and it has a strong feel, I think; means "prudent, wise" in Italian
           
 ~Aiden, unfortunately this is the name of some music group, but I like the way it sounds and it's meaning; means "little fire" in Gaelic (surprise!); I might just have to name my son this if he turns out to be a fire sign! =^D
           
 ~Alvin, part of me doesn't want to like this one, but somehow I think it could grow on me and I would find it fun to call my kid Al or even Vin. However,  getting it past my future husband (whom I am presuming to already know due to a 6 year current relationship) might be a bit of a challenge; means "friend of elves"
            
Edit: I was reading a reply to someone elses post and I realized I forgot to add Jet or Jett.  I would like it as either a boy's or girl's name, but I hadn't thought of it as a potential name until earlier today. I could never pass this by my man but I think I could go hill billy/redneck and name my boy Jethro and just call him Jet.  I was trying to find, as well, a French word that started with Jet for a girls name, but no luck. Then I got into the Irish names/words.  I can't find a decent word in any language so far. Mostly due to the fact that I would need to hit up a library/Borders to look at an actual dictionary for another language.  Anyone know a foreign language with a word I can shorten into Jet?  Maybe it doesn't have to start with Jet?  I think it would be neat as a nickname, but it could stand alone, I supose. =^P

Okay, that's all for now, hope you enjoyed them!  I don't dare work on middle names yet, but if you have any suggestions I am open to them.

I love the name Trinity, it's so pretty.
And Aiden has always been one of my favourite names, despite it's popularity.

As for Reilly, I see it as more of a boys name, but how you like it is the way I've always preferred it spelled. =]

I'm sorry, but all I can think of when I hear Trinity is the girl from The Matrix, or the little girl from Trailer Park Boys.

Yea, I don't remember if I decided I wanted to make my girls name Trinity before or after The Matrix, but I know it is not because I like the character or anything. I like it for it's meaning. I think it is more important to pay attention to the meaning of the name instead of who or what character has the same name. Although there are a few exceptions, mostly just from a historical basis and mostly just men's names. Not that I really like any names of famous men from the past....yea.

I like your list- I've always liked Gaelic names too. I actually really like Reilly for a girl. I like Carin too.

I love the names Cael and Soren. However, I've always thought that Soren is Danish in origin and means 'severe, stern.' ((It's just what I've read online, though, I might be wrong.))

Trinity was my stage name and is a very popular stripper name around here.

The girls called me "Trin" for short.

Love the name, but because of that, could never name a child that.

I don't like Trinity at all. Chara, on the other hand, is very pretty =)
And I thought Soren was a Scandinavian name...hm.

My middle name is Chara, only we pronounce it Sharr-ah, and I've always been told that it was Greek for joy. (I was named after my mom's best friend, who was Greek). I've also seen it as a variation of Charlotte. I think it's a lovely name either way, and always wished it was my first name.
Other than that I really like Soren and Anamchara.

I can't believe it but someone left a post on my personal page telling me to avoid Cael and Aiden because they where the popular picks for transgenders! Like I really care? I don't have a problem with transgenders... and I still think the only names I couldn't go with because of it being someone elses name so far are Adolf and Benidict. Not that I even like those names!

Okay, sorry to rant on a reply to your reply, thank all of you for your wonderful comments!! I am glad to know my names are liked, by anyone! And this community is a great inspiration! BUT, no one has commented on Baux yet! I guess that must mean the worst because I know you all will usually say if you don't like a name. Oh well, I had pretty much given up on it anyway. Wow, this is way long... just one more thing. Whatever the meaning for Soren it is growing on me as I read it in your comments back, AND I think the Carin/Chara is growing on me, too. Maybe the Anamchara with Chara for short. I don like it to sound as Cara, but I know alot will pronounce it as Sha-raa at least at first. Okay I am done! =^9

My son's name is Aiden ;) He was supposed to be a fire sign, but he came a bit early so found himself a water sign. He is found of warm baths heh.
