I want you to completely ignore the fact that there is a vehicle with this name. Forget the car, just analyze the name.

Avalon

I'm not a huge fan of Ava, but I really like Avalon. I also like the name Avonlea, but dropped it from my list due to the fact that I am an Avon representative, and having "Avon" in a baby name is too weird to me. :-)

That's really funny that you post this today b/c my hubby's aunt is an avon rep and drives an "avon mobile" (a red suv with lots of avon product sticker/magnets on it) and I saw an Avalon in front of us and said "I could just see your aunt buying that car and taking the "A-L" off of it.

I tried Avon, but I suck at selling.

In themean time... I'm not sure I like the names too much b/c I can't ignore the relations.

Avalon reminds me a lot more Camelot and King Arthur than it does a car. Actually I couldn't tell you who makes a car called Avalon...

I like it. I feel it's a little clumsy as a name, but it can be done. I used to know someone who had a daughter named Avalon Juliet.

It has very romantic King Arthur and Morgan le Fay associations - I love it! Never heard of the car, though - it must be an American thing.

Avalon is a pretty name. I don't think I would have remembered the car if it hadn't been mentioned already.

I never considered Avonlea as a name. I wonder how many of them are out there.

According to http://www.howmanyofme.com, none--at least, in the U.S. Maybe there are a few Canadian babies...

Even when I try to forget the car it still sounds too much like a product of some sort.

Lol having Avonlea if you're an Avon representative reminds me of this politician in our local area. Our electorate is named Ryan, so he is the member for Ryan, and he just named his son Ryan. I know it's a fairly common name but it's so transparent!

I used to go to school with a girl called Avelon (aah-veh-lon). It never really occured to me that it is an unusual name until now!
I like Avalon, like others said before me it reminds me of the arthurian folklore, which I think is a good thing ;). I don't think I would use it though.

It sounds pretty. It was a name before they named the car that. I didn't even know it was the name of a car until you said that and I looked it up.

i like it, but i think i like ava better. there's a peninsula in my province called the avalon peninsula and it makes me think of that.

a name i really like is avelin (with a long "a" sound), but i'm not sure how you would spell it so it looks nice. a girl on my f-list has a daughter and that is her middle name, but she used the irish spelling so it's spelled eibhlin.

It sounds kind of silly, in my opinion. :-\

Avolea was on my list, but my boyfriend didn't like it so it got taken off. I've always been a big fan of Anne of Green Gables. I think it's a beautiful name. :)

love avalon as a name. and i agree, it reminds me much more of king arthur than the car, and that's kind of cool.

Hm... I like the name, but it makes me think too much of King Arthur and such to actually want to use it.

I'm considering Avalynne, though...
