What are your thoughts on Veronica? I like that it starts with a less common letter and that everyone knows how to pronounce it yet it's not a common name. (At least, I've never met a Veronica.) And I think the connection with the Archie comics is outdated enough that it wouldn't be a problem.

I hate the name. My little cousin is named Veronica. Every single time I Hear it... I think of porn stars... I'm horrible.

I think of a porn star too...and there's also a rap by Onyx called Veronica and it's just a terrible association for me.

I like the name, I think it's pretty but uncommon. I've only met one, and she would be about 17 now. It's definitely usable :o)

That is my fear because I really don't like Ronnie/Roni as a nickname. Perhaps Veronica is best used as a middle name...

I think that Nica would be a really cute nickname. Veronica is pretty and unique.

Actually, I love the name Veronica. It's on my V-list <-- my favorite names that begin with V. Such as: vanessa, veronica, veda, and victoria.

I don't necessarily think that kids will refer to her as ronnie or roni. However, they might refer to her by her middle name.

I love the name. I have a friend whose daughter is named Veronica, and I've never known of anyone who shortened it to anything (especially not Roni - bleah) in the 20+ years that I've known the girl. Her family calls her Veronica, she was always known at school as Veronica, she always introduced herself as Veronica. You CAN nip that stupid nickname thing in the bud, in my experience with a daughter named Jessica who definitely did NOT want to be called Jessi. :)

:-) No matter what name I chose, there will be no nicknames. I love the elegance of full names, particularly long ones.
