Hello! *waves to everyone*

My name is Lacey. =)

I've always been curious about this name of mine, and I've seen several meanings for it. One that's always stuck with me, though, was that it was a form of the Greek name Larissa, which means laughter; as my initials spell the name "Leah" (Lacey Elizabeth Anne H----), and that name means "weary" or "sorrow," I find that very ironic and amusing. It suits me, too, as I love to laugh and make people laugh, but I'm generally sad / cynical person as well.

What do you think? About the name, the meaning, the irony... Any of it.

One thing that does irritate me-- or used to, I'm rather used to it by now-- is explaining that no, I wasn't named after Lacey Chabert. I'm only four years younger than her, and she wasn't famous at four. (My mother actually found the name in a man's obituary and decided she liked it. XD) Another thing is people calling me Stacey, Macey, Casey, Tracey, etc. I'm so used to any more, though, it doesn't really phase me. There was a girl in high school that called me Lindsay because I didn't have the heart to correct her. I knew who she was talking to, so I guess it just stuck. Another boy called me Stacey, at first because he forgot my name, then later to tease me, and finally because it was just habit and out of good humor. I answered to it, although only when he said it. XD

---

I have two middle names, Elizabeth and Anne, and I was wondering if anyone else had two (or more)? I used to hate having two middle names, especially because I kept having to explain to people I did have two and why I had two. Also, it annoyed me that on forms and those standardized tests in school there was only one box or space for middle initial. The first time I encountered that in fourth grade, I asked my teacher what to put-- should I just put "E" or cram in "EA"? She told me I was wrong, that I couldn't have two middle names, and that it wasn't legal to have two, etc. I hated her. She got an earful from my mother when I went home and told her!

---

One last little thing, I couldn't resist. My father's name is Daryl Evon. Different, huh? Especially since "Daryl" is pronounced "dar-ull," and not like Darrell. Evon is "ee-vahn," and it's a middle name he inherited from his father. I've never heard of that name otherwise. What I have come up with is that it's a masculine form of Yvonne, but I've never seen or heard it besides my father and grandfather. How about any of you?

I am the oldest of four and while *I* don't have two middles names, y siblings do. It doesn't bother me, I'm fine with one. :) The older of my brothers names is Nicholas Tyler Lee [lastname], then my sister who is Alexandria Maria Elizabeth [lastname], and the younger of the brothers is Nicholas Gerard Joseph [lastname].

I've known a few Daryls. :)

I have a cousin named Lacy who I'm very close to, so I love the name. If I remember correctly, the main problem she has encountered with this name is having to explain to people that there isn't an "e" in hers.

This just reminded me of something that happened once, when we were children. Lacy and I were at a store together with her mother and her mom called for her from another aisle. As we walked up, a woman standing nearby said, "You guys aren't from around here, are you?" ("here," at the time, being Colorado). My aunt said, "No, actually, we just moved here." The woman said, "Let me guess, you're from...Kentucky?" My aunt replied, "Yes, how did you know?" to which the woman said, "Your daughter's name. It's a very Southern name. You'd never hear that name around here." She was very pleasant about the whole thing, but I found myself wondering even as a ten-year-old...what the hell? Have you ever heard of such a thing?

I didn't have two middle names when I was born, but I do now! I took my original surname as a middle name when I took on my step-dad's surname. It's Skene, which is an old Scottish name meaning 'assasin'. When I got married, I considered keeping all my names, but it would get a tad longwinded.

i've got two middle names, one of them is my mum's last name (she kept her maiden name when she married).
my parents did it coz they didn't want to make me and my sister double-barrelled, but they thought we ought to have both our parents last names.

I never had a box problem though =)

I went to school with a boy with two middle names. Sheldon Hitchcock Indigo. Although, a sick sense of humour must run in his family because his last name started with a T and he was the fourth generation in a row to have the same name. (Think about his initials for a second!) Given what I knew about Sheldon and his family, he was really sweet, if a bit crazed, but they all DID have a sick sense of humour. :)

I have one middle name and two last names, so my younger brother and sister both have two middle names so we would all have four names. We all have seven letters in our first names also. I am Heather Marie, my little brother is Derrick Wayne Mitchell and my little sister is Tiffany Anne Nicole.

My best friend's name was Aaron Scott S-----, he always joked about how his mother must have known he was going to be trouble.

The seven letters thing was planned. Brother & sister got nicknames [D & T] but H never really caught on, so my step-dad opted to call me George, haha.. 'Heather Marie' is a VERY common name around here, in one of my courses there were two other girls with the same name and we had to go by our last names.

It's pronounced Ske-een. I really love the name and I wish I'd kept it when I was younger.

You're going to have a hard time filling out forms with all those names!

I've never noticed any problems at all.
The only thing is when school registers have the whole name on and the teachers joke about taking up too much space (compared to those poor deprived people with no middle name at all).
I think I've met quite a few people with two middle names though, so maybe its more common in different places?
