Family names that I despise.

So, recently one of my cousins on my dad's side has given birth to twins. Kaylie and Hannah. She has another two daughers named Hope and Anna. Thoughts?

That's not the point.

Their middle names, though I'm not sure what they are ALL come from that side of the family.
It's a shocking trend on that side! Even I have a family-honoring middle name, despite the fact that my father is actually the "step-son" to the grandfather who's family it is- although, he was the only grandfather I ever knew. So even though I despise most of these names, I'm probably going to get stuck naming my kid with one of them.

Here are some of the awful, awful ones. Which ones do you like best?
I don't think I necessarily have to name from that SIDE of the family, but all of the options are horrendous in my opinion, even from my mother's. I just DON'T like them, you know? I was just bored and wanted to see what ya'll thought.

Girls:
Teen, Brenda, Martha, Sabina, Honorata, Terri, Peggy, Jo, Agnes, Judi, Joyce, Barbara, Lois, Minnie (honest-to-god first name, although she was born in 1918 so it probably wasn't that weird.)

Boys:
Neil (who's actual first name was Junior, but they were from the south so they go by their middles)
Lloyd (He goes by Jabbo!),
Clyde (who was my Papa, but thank god his real name was Thomas),
Tracy Gerard,
Estelle,
Denver,
Harvey - which is actually the one I'm named for, though it's spelled "Harvi" I don't mind it, but I would never never never repeat it.
Lorne,
Doyle,
David (Dick! I don't mind David but everytime it would be associated with my Uncle Dick.)
Robert (Meh.)

My brother's names are Garin and Drew which I'm not 100% fond of.

Names I don't mind?
Lila, Rose, Lena, Eleanor, Lenore, Marybeth.
Michael, Thomas, Henry, Edward

Having an Anna and a Hannah must be confusing. I don't mind the name Minnie. Lois is okay. A boy named Estelle? I've never seen that before.

I like Lois. I think it would be kicky-retro. The association with Lois Lane is cool.

And that's my Papa's sister's name, she's around 75 now- so I guess when old people have weird names, it's okay, you know? As far as I know it isn't short for anything- their Mom (she was Lila) called them by their whole names and she always addressed her as "Teen".

I know, but like I said I suspect it's Ana and my Grandma can't prounounce it, although coming from her I wouldn't be suprised.

They all had weird real/middle names. I guess in the "Old South"- he was my Papa's dad so he was born around the 1890's it was normal. I never heard of Lorne before either, that was my biological grandfather.

I think Minnie would have an association with the mouse. I don't like Lois, I have never known anyone under the age of 60 named Lois.

There is a fine line between retro and frumpy I think and that straddles the boundary too much. I would like it, but my Uncle Denver was a complete shitbag.

We might name our first son with the middle name Robert, because of my fiance's father. Better than Glen though, after his grandfather. I just really don't like either. =/

Couldn't possibly be, as she wasn't born before 1927 (She is older than my Nana and that's when she was born.)

However, they WERE from Poland so maybe when she came over here she had a funky Polish name that got changed to "Minnie".

Blah, blah, blah. Like I said old-fashioned names that have stuck around for years and years and years like Elizabeth, Kate, Maude...etc. I don't like the names of my family. I think all of those female names are just so. OLD. Like, probably because I have the association with my old ass family members.

Harvey is in my name, and since I'm a girl I don't think a little boy wants to be named specifically for his mother. Neil though, really isn't that bad.

Minnie was actually a close half-sister of my Nana's...her two brothers who died before I was born (I think) were named Chester and Lefty!

At least it's just an MN. My uncle Rob isn't a bad guy, but my two cousins are named FOR him. (One is Robert Henry, the other is David Robert). And it seems to me like a sailor-ey name, you know?

I don't mind Lila, but I would like Lily better, even though that's mad common. Her middle name would have to be something whack so she's not another Lily Rose.

Micheal was my dad's name- he spelled it that way.
Her real name was actually Sabina, I couldn't tell you how it became Lena, but they said it like "Laeh-na", if you kind of catch my drift?
