May. 2nd, 2007 11:09 pmwhat a fun community.
like a lot of you, i've always kept lists of names.
when i was younger, i always said i wanted triplets named madison, morgan, and mackenzie. i also said i wanted to name my son zachary tyler (which my oldest sister almost stole) or noah (my other sister almost stole that one.) i grew tired of those after a while.
then i decided on alissa kaitlin, so that i could call her ally kat. yeah, that one didn't last for more than a few years either.
i'm getting married next summer and we plan to start trying for a family next winter. we want to name a girl either isabella christiana (we both love the nickname bella and christiana is my best friend's middle name) or sophia renee (renee is my middle name as well as my mom's. both of my sisters also gave their daughters their middle names.)
as for a boy, that has been a bit more difficult. i really liked the name jayden until britney spears decided to name her kid that. not so cute anymore for some reason. my fiance wanted to name a kid vincinzo. um, no. he really likes the name anthony. i don't. i have bad memories of someone with that name. marriage is about compromise though and it seems to be something that he really wants. so, after giving it a lot of thought, i decided that if that is what he wants, i will let him have it. it means more to him to have the name than it does to me NOT to have the name. his middle name will be christopher because that is my fiance's name and he has his dad's name as his middle name. if we end up having two boys i really want to name the second one giani (pronounced almost like johnny, more like gee-ani.) i also like giovanni, but he won't have that either.
the girls name are important to me, so i guess the boys names can be important to him. as long as they're not louie or vincinzo. ick. if you're wonering why so many italian names, my fiance is italian. although they'll only be about 1/4 italian, they'll have a very italian last name. so, it works.
other names i would love to give me kids but i know the chances are slim are molly or grace. so cute.
my sister's first two kids are named thia and liam. actually their full names are cynthia and william, but i like that they thought outside the box on those two and used thia and liam instead of cindy and will.
ok ok. i am supposed to be studying for my last final exam that i have tomorrow morning. i should stop procrastinating and do it.
i'll probably just sit here and think of more names though. heh.

Date: 2007-05-03 01:34 pm (UTC)it irks me that isabella and sophia are becoming so commonplace too. we're actually considering passing on isabella because so many people are naming their children that.
i used to have work with an italian guy who named his daughter franchesca. i have a love/hate relationship with it. i think it's beautiful, but i know my daughter might hate me for it.
i think i might have to go back to the drawing board on girls names if i have two. maybe ava? also becoming popular. my fiance likes maria, but as italian as his last name is, our children aren't going to look italian. my fiance is sicilian (well mostly) but he has light hair and light eyes. i don't think maria is appropriate if my child is going to come out with blonde hair and blue eyes. i do love sophia, though. i don't care how popular it gets. heh, i said that about isabella at one point to though. we shall see.
