hallo, I've heard a rumor recently about a name that i'm interested in, I was wondering if anyone knew the truth behind it:

An article claimed that the name "Wendy" was created by JM Barrie solely for the character in his Peter Pan book. That name had apparently never been used before in history.

Does anyone know the background for it? I love the name, and the history behind it would make it that much more interesting!

Not true (http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mpeterpanwendy.html). (First hit for 'wendy, invented' on Google.)

It is true that he popularized it though.
