Hey~ I'm new here. I wandered in from the spotlight (how typical) and thought this was an absolutely fantastic idea for a community so... here I am.

Anyway, I've been scrolling through a few pages of posts and thought I'd do my own.

For starters, I'm only 19 so no kids for me yet but I am a writer with a love for unique but not obnoxious names so please feel free to throw some at me in a comment. My name is Rebecca Elizabeth though I mostly go by Bec and have done so for the past decade. I wasn't named for anything in particular but my middle name is for both my grandmothers-- Elizabeth (Beth) and Helen Elizabeth. Interesting names seem to be a bit of a theme in my immediate family (my siblings at least), so I thought I'd post them along with a short list of my favourite names.

FAMILY
Mum: Diane.
Dad: Michael Charles.
Younger Sister 1: Caitlin Edith (for our great-grandmother).
Younger Sister 2: Erienne (pronounced eh-ree-en).
Younger Brother: Riordan Michael John (for my father and grandfather, and Riordan is meant to be pronounced rhee-o-dan but we call him roar-dan like Jordan).
Cousin 1: Alyce (like Elise with an A).
Cousin 2: Ashleigh (Ashley, with a different spelling).


As for my favourite names... It's only a short list but...

BOYS

- Zack. Just Zack. I love the name by itself and not short for Zachary/Zacharias. Though I do like the name Zacharias as well.
- Dorian.
- James.
- Leon. God, another name I adore in itself and not short for anything.
- Evan.
- Rhys.

GIRLS

- Lacy (like lace, pronounced lace-ee).
- Chai (like the tea, haha).


And that's it. Surprisingly there's not a lot of girls names that I actually like, so if you have any unique ones then please comment with them. I'm always open for new ideas, especially in character development.

I don't know where I heard it, but I have always like the name Liren for a girl. I think it may be a Chinese name, "Li Ren", but I am not sure. I think if it as "LIE-ren"

Is Erienne pronounced like "air-ee-ENN," or "AIR-ee-enn"? If it's the latter, I bet a lot of people think her name is Arian, which is a...strange name to have.

Nope~ Actually it's the name of a Final Fantasy VII character >>;; But I liked the name long before that game.

It's probably closer to EREE-enn than anything else, but the stress is on the first syllable. It's an Irish name, I think so we may not be pronouncing it entirely correctly.

Ah, I just thought because you liked the name Zack and Zach Braff plays Dr Dorian in Scrubs, and you like the name Dorian. Just a coincedence I guess.
