Sister: Shauna Linh

Sister: Nga Tuyet (gnaw tweet)
Sister: Nhi Tuyet (knee tweet)
Sister: Trish My


I love my mom's name, but she hates it, and I want to honor her by recycling it, but she insists that it's an awful name.  Thoughts?

Vietnamese? Thi is a really nice name, I love it with Thi-Ha. I knew a girl who had that name and it's stuck with me ever since.

Perhaps if your mother dislikes her name you can recycle it in a softer version: Victoria or August.

Nga and Nhi, are my stepsisters, but I've known them since I was probably 7 or 8, so I just call them my sisters. Trish (we call her Utbi -oopie, means "the last one; baby"), is my half sister.

That is a good idea. I was originally thinking about putting it on the end of Katharine Monroe, so Katharine Monroe Augusta, but it's a big mouthful.

I dislike Victoria...it doesn't mean the same thing as Victory. To me it's not as strong or meaningful, nor does it have the roots that Victory does. August is pretty, but when it's not Augusta, it's just another one of those month names.
