Jul. 2nd, 2005 11:20 amI found out Thursday that I am 10 weeks pregnant. I have been giving names a lot of thought (I know I posted previously a small list) but I would really like to use the names Ember for a girl and Blaze for a boy.
I would like to have them as first names but can't think of good middle names to go with them. Does anyone have any ideas. I would greatly appreciate suggestions. Also what are your opinions of Ember and Blaze.

Date: 2005-07-02 08:55 am (UTC)I really like Ember.
Hmm not so keen on Blaze, just think of Blaise (same pronounciation) which has a less than appealing meaning.
As for middle names...
Is there anyone you particually admire/are close to, that you'd like to honour?
I always like names are wonderful when they have special significance.

Thank you for your post though and the information about Blaise. I will look up the meaning.

Date: 2005-07-02 09:05 am (UTC)I've only heard the name as in St. Blaise and Blaise Pascal. And the people I've heard of (besides those two) who have this name are named after the saint.

Date: 2005-07-02 10:17 am (UTC)Blaze, however, really sounds like the name of a horse or a My-Little-Pony.
I'd probably pair them with something fairly traditional. Ground them and give a more conservative option for the child, should they grow up and want that choice.

Date: 2005-07-02 12:51 pm (UTC)Blaise: From the Roman name Blasius which meant "lisping" from Latin blaesus.
Maybe I'm just too fussy about those things. Most people aren't going to know.

Date: 2005-07-03 12:58 pm (UTC)Blaze on the other hand, yeah, that's really romance novelly. It sounds sort of cool, and sort of lame :( If you are convinced of using it, I would say just try to remember that it rhymes with "Gays".
