Hey, this seems like a lovely community and as I'm utterly obsessed with names I'd thought I'd join. I'm very glad to be here. :)

I have a question - as elaborately as you can describe what do you honestly, truthfully think of the name 'Kim'? What does it make you think/feel when you hear it? what feel does it have? It's my own name you see.. but you can say whatever you like, I promise I WON'T be offended.

I have a cousin called Kim and a friend's daughter was named that as well (the latter died at a few minutes old). So I mostly associate it with them, but thats a nice connotation.

Alexia - this is a word that means "unable to read." (like dyslexia)

Shane - don't like it as a guy's name, and definitely not as a girl's
Talony - as in possessing talons?

The others are fine, just not names I particularly like or dislike.

my cousin is named kim, so is a girl that i'm friends with... i don't mind the name. i'm surprised i don't know more kims in real life, to be honest, because online i've met a lot.

Ainslie: i knew a girl online named Ainsleah. she was a pompous, elitist prick who always belittled everyone she could online.
Alana: knew an Alanna in real life... again, complete raging bitch.
Alanis: i like this.
Alba: no... reminds me of jessica alba. it doesn't seem like a first name.
Alexia: i like this.
Andie: i had the name Andee on my list for girls before we found out we were having a boy.
Ashley: let's see... i had THREE Ashley B.s in my class, those were just with the last name B! i had about five or six Ashleys all together. i meet way too many girls with this name.
Ava: i love this name.
Bennie: erm. no.
Billie: again, don't like very much.
Briana: cute. when i was little, my doll was named briana. i was soo ahead of the trend hahahhaha jk. the one little girl i know by this name is cute, but veryvery loud & obnoxious.
Bryony: i don't think that.
Candy: again, nerp.
Cordelia: buffy the vampire slayer?
Crystal: know about 3 crystals... all are backwards, almost toothless great definitions of trailer trash. i stayed away from this when picking out names.
Dani: my cousin is danielle, she hates the nickname Dani.
Delta: burke?
Ebony: honestly, i've only ever heard of african-american girls with this name.
Elliot: for a girl? that was my boy doll's name... briana's brother lol
Eva: see Ava.
Fabiana: ek. no.
Hazel: brings to mind a tall, lanky, 'earthy' woman.
Heather: same as ashley, overdone. but i still like it.
Heidi: not bad.
Ivy: see Hazel.
Iza: no.

Macy: maybe because i'm a shopaholic, but no.
Nyla: reminds me of the Lion King.
Olivia/Ollie: Olivia, yes. ollie as a nickname? or name? either way, no.

Roxy: yes, i love this name. i don't think i'd ever use it, but still love it.

i like alana, ava, briana, and ruby.

serena, talia, olivia, and jamie are ok.

the rest i just don't like.

especially elliot! i am not a fan of male to female names at allllll. i don't even like most unisex names, but there are a few exceptions.

i find that ashley, tiffany, crystal, heather, and candy are quite dated.

kim is a nice name. i guess. it's usually just a nickname. kimberly is nice. my best friend's name is kim, so that may be why. :)

"Kim" makes me feel happy. I picture someone upbeat and energetic.

"Kimberly" I get a different feeling for. It feels high society, posh, elitist.

I don't like Kim, it makes me think of "b*tchy" girls, sorry, but that's as honest and in depth as I can get.

I like:

Alexia- I really like Alexis ans this is close enough. A friend named her baby Alexie and I don't like that at all.
Ava- Recently one of my favorites, spelled this way, not with an E.
Eva- As stated above, I prefer the other spelling, but I like Eve.
Ivy- I like it, but I couldn't name a child this name, since I already named my black cat Ivy.
Olivia- Part of my other cat's name, Alley-Olivia. :)

I don't care. I'm named Jasmine... my last name is Irish. I'm about as white as the come and confuse everyone. Plus I'm 6'3 and about as athletic as that sock laying on the floor over there.... so I got teased a lot there too. :) its okay. lol
